Java Application Architect - $125,000
Duties / Experience / Comments |

Travel Monday thru Friday (back home each weekend), so
must live near major airport.
Validate current and target technical architecture.
Includes validation of architecture, development/test
environments, deployment topology and build/release
infrastructure. Model the non-functional
requirements and architecture constraints.
Define a new application architecture leveraging industry
best practice frameworks. Define the migration
strategy and conduct necessary proof-of-concepts in a lab
environment to ensure the new architecture will meet
requirements. Develop standards, best practices
and solution accelerators. Provide oversight to
delivery teams during the re-engineering efforts.
Requirements:
Four year college degree
10+ years of hands-on architect/software engineer experience
Senior Java Architects to guide a very large application
reengineering program to a new Java EE platform.
Will deliver the detailed solution architecture, develop
migration strategy and work very closely with the
engineering teams to ensure that the new solution will meet
both the functional and non-functional requirements.
Must have experience as the Lead Architect for designing and
developing architectures for large, complex and mission
critical business applications
Experience with performance engineering/tuning large and
complex applications
Experience with SUN and/or IBM Java EE stack (JDK 1.4 or
above)
Hands-on experience developing and deploying web services
using SOAP, UDDI, etc
Exposure to at least one EAI/ESB middleware such as
WebSphere MQ, Tibco, etc
Experience with life-cycle software engineering tools such
as Rational Software Architect
Experience with popular frameworks such as Struts, Spring,
Tapestry, Hibernate, etc
Pluses:
Application or platform re-engineering experience
Experience with a portal product from SUN or IBM
Experience with Agile development methodologies such as
Scrum
Exposure to Java 5 Enterprise Edition
Exposure to RIA technologies such as Ajax, Flash SDK, etc.
MS in Computer Science
